Comments sought on Creekside Park lighting project
The public is invited to review and comment on the Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration for the proposed Creekside Park Lighting Project.
The project involves the installation of a lighting system along about three blocks of an existing pedestrian pathway along Cerrito Creek in order to improve the attractiveness of the path as well as increase public safety of the path and the Creekside Park.
The lighting system would be installed on the embankment of the creek, along the path, in the close proximity of the existing handrail between Carlson Avenue and the El Cerrito City Limits. Further studies, including lighting analyses, would be conducted to determine the precise number, location and orientation of the new fixtures. The lights will be energy efficient LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) and their level of brightness will be controlled be a series of motion detectors installed along the path.
The Project is to be funded by Measure WW (the East Bay Regional Park District's Regional Open Space, Wildlife, Shoreline and Parks Bond Extension Measure of 2008).
An electronic copy of the Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration can be downloaded from the City of El Cerrito website, www.el-cerrito.org. A paper copy is available for review during business hours at City Hall, 10890 San Pablo Avenue.
Comments on the project should be submitted by March 11, 2010. Please direct any written comments or questions to:
