Free! John Marsh was one of Northern California's pioneer settlers – and one of its most notorious! A “doctor,” Indian fighter, gold miner and murder victim, Marsh persuaded other pioneers to make their way to California in the 1840s – and then infuriated them. The first white Settler in the San Joaquin Valley, he founded a ranch near today's Brentwood in 1837, and built his magnificent Stone House in 1856. Today the Stone House is part of a state park but remains in need of restoration and funding! Learn about John Marsh and this wonderful house!
