Scat by Carl Hiassen is about a teacher who disappears on a field trip. Ttwo of the students find out that she is helping save an endangered animal and the two students start to help save it from a greedy oil man.  I recommend this book because it is very mysterious and suspenseful. S.W. 

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick is about an orphan who lives in and repairs clocks in a Paris train station and is fascinated by an automated man he is repairing. The movie Hugo is based on this book.

I recommend this book because it is fast paced and the author has a clever way of using many full-page pictures as well as words to tell the story. Largely because of all of the pictures, it is a quick read despite being more than 500 pages long. - Ms. B

Harry Potter Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling is about a boy who is in a competition and goes through dangerous events. I recommend this book because it is thrilling, great, and very exciting – J.J.I.

 

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling is about a boy who goes to a wizarding school. They teach the students things that they’ve never done before. I recommend this book because it makes you want to know what going to happen next. – B.K.

 

Loser by Jerry Spinelli is about a kid named Donald Zinkoff who is found in the night looking for a girl that was already found.

I recommend this book because Donald is very different from all the other kids and in the book it explains very well how Donald is feeling and he’s very exciting. – J.C.

 

The Adventures of Charlie and Mr Wonka by Roald Dahl is about a boy named Charlie who wins a golden ticket and meets Willy Wonka on a journey. I recommend this book because it is very action packed. – F. W.

 

The Girl Who Chased Away Sorrow by Ann Turner is about a Navajo girl who chased away the soldiers. I recommend this book because it talks about how it was in the olden days and it has really beautiful pictures.- K.J.

Rani in the Mermaid Lagoon by Lisa Papademetriou is about a fairy named Rani. She was the only fairy without wings. She was the only fairy who could swim. I recommend this book because it is adventurous and you would want to know more. – M. W. M.

 

The Indian in the Cupboard by Lynne Banks is about a toy Indian that comes to life by being put in a magical cupboard. This book is recommended by me because it has great details that change the entire story. For example, when a person turns the key to the cupboard lock, the objects inside it become alive. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is about a girl whose little sister is chosen for the hunger games but she takes her little sister’s place.
